Gokyo is a small colony of stone houses and stonewalled pastures which nestle on the lateral moraine of the Ngozumba Glacier. Almost all houses are guest houses for tourists. The villagers who live here in the season are leaving to other (lower) town and villages; like Namche Bazar in the offseason. This village is situated at a height of roughly 4800 meters; located on the banks of the third Gokyo Lake (Nepali Name Dudh Pokhari).
Gokyo Lake (Dudh Pokhari) trek
You will visit this delightful place if you will do the Gokyo Lakes trek; that is extensively regarded as one of Nepal’s classic and typical treks. Or you can include it on while you go to the Everest Basecamp Trek. If the climate is good in the afternoon on the day you arrive then you can make an ascent of the peak Gokyo Ri (5357 meters).
Amazing views of Mount Everest, Lhotse and Cho Oyu (8153 meters) can be seen from the marvelous location. It is suggested to stay in there for a few days. You can make some great day hikes and visit some other lakes if you walk in the direction of Cho Oyu (north).
